How did you get started?
A couple of years ago a girlfriend and I were discussing a TV show, "Super Nanny". I told my friend, "I would love to do something like that where I could really help families." The idea for Parenting with Peace was born. Having worked in early childhood and the public schools, I knew there was a real need for families who were hurting and did not have a place to turn to. I spent about six months researching the types of parenting resources available to families in the Kansas City area, and launched Parenting with Peace in March of 2007.

Does it matter where I live?
I offer in-home parenting consulting in Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Liberty, Overland Park, Shawnee and just about anywhere else in the Kansas City metro area. If you don't live in the Kansas City area, I am still happy to be your parenting coach over the phone.
What kind of parenting challenges do you work with?
I can help you with a wide range of issues. I assist with anything from potty training, to bedtime routines, to table manners. I can develop a plan for you to deal with issues like sibling rivalry, chores, and school work. I can help you streamline your family routine to allow for things like spending family time together, as well as making these times more enjoyable by improving the way you interact with each other.
Have a child with special needs? Not a problem, I have extensive experience working with special needs children.
Does my child need to be a certain age for you to work with my family?
Depending upon the issue you are wanting help with, a child does not need to be a certain age. If you are wanting assistance with discipline, I would recommend waiting until your child is at least 18 months old. I will work with families with children through early adolescence, up to 15 years of age.
What happens when I contact you for a consultation?
When you email me, I will call you to set up a consultation. If you are doing over-the-phone coaching, the consultation time will be set up separately from the first time I call you.
If you are a two-parent household, I require that both parents be present for the initial consultation, which lasts about 30 min. There is no charge for the initial consultation.
In-home coaching consists of filling out a packet of information, observations, and a personalized assessment. I then collaborate with the family on a plan to put in place to address the issues you want help with. I then come to your home at agreed upon times to assist you in implementing the plan. I work with you until we have achieved the goals set in place. In-home consultations include phone call and email support.
Over-the-phone coaching is set up at your convenience. Payment is due before the coaching session.
