About Valerie

For those of you who don’t know me….this is a part of my testimony and where I got the inspiration for Parenting with Peace.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future (NIV)

The Lord has given me this passion to help children and families out of the circumstances of my own life. My own family of origin has disintegrated and become estranged, and I have faced many challenges in raising my own children, including working through divorce and remarriage. What I discovered in raising my own children is that being a good parent is never easy, and it gets harder the older they get. Like everyone else, I initially parented the way I was parented, and God brought it to my attention that the way I was treating my children and running my household was not working. In order to change the way I was parenting, I had to first work on my own issues and strengthening my relationship with God. The results of these efforts have resulted in a stronger, more connected family, who are learning together how to live a life of loving and serving God. Working in the public schools for many years brought me into close contact with hundreds of families struggling to raise their children. By talking with other people about their parenting troubles, God placed a burden on my heart to help other families. Parents today often struggle to provide just the basics for their children, and in that struggle, teaching children to become the adults God intended for them to be falls to the wayside. I believe that everyone is called to ministry, and that ministry begins in the home. The Bible gives many examples of good and bad parenting, as well as some clear instructions on how parents are to instruct and relate to their children. Many parents may not be familiar enough with the Word to know what God instructs, and need help developing ways to bring their children up “in the training and admonition of the Lord”. My sincere desire, my ministry in serving God, is to help families avoid the destruction that my family experienced. Through my greatest hurts and failures, I bring glory to Him by allowing Him to use them to help others. The Bible is clear on what God intends for you, and for your children, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plan will succeed
